美國一直是足球運動的處女地，把世界杯主辦權(quán)交到他們手里似乎是個錯誤的選擇，主題曲也變得黯淡。這首“榮耀之地”雖然有個響亮的名字，但是英雄主義色彩在這首歌中蕩然無存。“榮耀之地”在音樂風(fēng)格上更接近于民謠與流行搖滾樂的結(jié)合，很有些美國西部荒原的蒼茫感。1994年作者兼主唱達利爾創(chuàng)作了此歌，并邀請福音曲演唱組合“黑暗之聲”(Sounds of blackness)協(xié)助錄制。由于作品缺乏對足球運動的共鳴，很快淹沒在人們的記憶之中。1994年的世界杯合輯中收錄的其他大牌藝人的作品倒是要比主題曲精彩得多。

達利爾．豪 　　
達利爾．豪是美國70和80年代知名組合“豪與奧茲雙人組”(Hall and Oates)的成員之一。他1946年10月11日出生，原名Daryl Franklin Hohl。來自費城的達利爾在坦普爾大學(xué)結(jié)識了后來的伙伴約翰-奧茲(John Oates)。他們幾經(jīng)分合，最后在湯米．莫托拉(Tommy Mottola，后來也是瑪莉亞凱莉的經(jīng)理人)的運作下，簽約亞特蘭大唱片公司。1972年推出首張專輯《純粹的奧茲》(Whole Oates)。1984年他們成為歷史上排名最高的民謠二人組，同年組合解散，各自發(fā)展，1988年為了專輯《Ooh Yeah!》重組。至今他仍有新專輯推出。
